ABOUT BFF

Our Vision

All low-income individuals have access to, and the means to fully participate in, high-quality educational pathways to a prosperous and fulfilling life.

Our Mission

Working to provide all low-income individuals with protective financial support to enable them to access, and fully participate in, high-quality educational pathways to a prosperous and fulfilling life.

Our WORK

Since the fall of 2017, Better Future Forward has provided over 170 students across Chicago, Minnesota and Wisconsin with protective, sustainable financing to support them in completing postsecondary education. So far, 88 percent of our students are enrolled or have graduated from college.

In partnership with trusted community organizations, BFF builds community-based funds designed to address financial inequities faced by low-income students. These funds are built around three principles:

1. Access - All low-income students working to advance themselves can access funding and receive enough to enable their success.

2. Protection - Students pay an affordable percentage of their income when earning above a set lower income cut-off – up to a cap amount or, for students who don’t hit the cap, the end of the term.

3. Sustainable through outcomes - When students succeed, their payments sustain the program for future students–enabling sustainability and scale.
